The House of Lata in Bohali Zakynthos is a family run tavern – restaurant with traditional Greek cuisine, that operates since 1993. Before that, it used to be the residence of Zakynthos former Archbishop, called Latas. The tavern is located in Bohali Hill, one of Zante’s most beautiful places, usually called “Balcony of the Ionian”, for its amazing panoramic views over the Zakynthos town and the Ionian sea.
The tavern operates daily from 18:00 till late at night and offers live music, both Greek and Zakynthian traditional called “kantades” (after 21:00).
The House of Lata offers a great variety of dishes with emphasis on local Zakynthian cuisine. You definitely need to taste some of the specialties, like rooster in ragout sauce (with thick spaghetti), rabbit in red sauce, beef in red sauce, beef or rabbit stifado, pork shank in the oven and lamb kleftiko paired with a local wine of our own produce. Some of our unique appetizers include: aubergines skordostoumpi (with garlic and vinegar), piperonati (sausage in red sauce and cheese) and mix mushrooms in the clay. If you ever find yourself in The House of Lata don’t miss to finish your dinner with a homemade dessert like orange pie or the traditional Zakynthian sweet called frygania.
